About Our Organization
What organization is behind Transfaith?
Transfaith is a trademark of the Interfaith Working Group (IWG). IWG is the non-profit organization behind Transfaith Online and all of our Transfaith programming.
Our board of directors takes overall responsibility for the health and well-being of the organization.
Chris Paige is the founder of Transfaith Online and was hired as executive director of IWG beginning January 1, 2012.
Louis Mitchell became executive director in 2018, when Chris asked to step down to the role of Operations Director.
Chris and Louis are considered co-founders of Transfaith due to the way they partnered in the process of bringing IWG and Transfaith Online together to emerge as a new organization.
Volunteers fulfill many roles in our work.

IWG had a previous life advocating for separation of church and state, reproductive freedom and rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, but shifted to focus on transgender communities in 2007.
Are you an official non-profit organization?
Yes! Contributions to the Interfaith Working Group (or Transfaith) are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
The Interfaith Working Group (IWG) is a Pennsylvania Corporation, registered with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Charitable Organizations. IWG has federally exempt status under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in section 501(c)(3), of the type described in sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi).
We are registered with the state as "doing business as" Transfaith and can also receive payment as Transfaith (e.g. checks made out to "Transfaith").
